After a video-conference meeting held May 31st, the OSUSBC Board has decided to postpone the 2020 Jamboree and Awards Banquet that was to be held July 24-26 at the Best Western Inn Plus at Agate Beach. Concerns over the health and safety of Jamboree attendees as well as the uncertainty of the extent of the lifting of restrictions were the overriding factors in the postponement of the Jamboree and Awards Banquet.
Going forward, the current plan is to postpone this year’s event until the time of the 2021 event. The Annual Meeting that was to take place this year with the election of directors, officers and delegates will take place preceding the regularly scheduled 2021 Annual Meeting. It is intended that all OSUSBC directors and officers up for election this year will continue in those capacities until an election is held. There are no legislative issues on the schedule for this year so there is no concern in that regard.
Awards and recognition for the OSUSBC Hall of Fame, Volunteer of the Year, and Proprietor of the Year that were to be recognized this year will be honored at next year’s event. Plans are underway to honor this year’s youth scholarship winners sometime in the near future as winners could be potentially leaving for college and awarding those scholarships in a timely manner could benefit those recipients. We will keep you updated as those plans become finalized.
More information regarding the 2020-21 tournament schedule that is usually decided at the time of the Jamboree will be finalized at a later date after more is known regarding the status of bowling center operations across the state. As those dates and venues are finalized, we will post an updated schedule on our social media pages and website. For now, the Youth, Open, and Women’s Championships that were cancelled this year will return to the respective intended venues for next year.
These are troubling times, but the OSUBC Board is working to stay informed to make the best possible decisions for the bowlers of our state. If you have any questions, please contact Gary Yamasaki at email@example.com.
Congratulations to all of the 2019 OSUSBC award winners!
