Due to restrictions concerning COVID-19, the Oregon State USBC (OSUSBC) is moving the OSUSBC Queens/Senior Queens Tournament scheduled for January 30-31, 2021 to November 6-7, 2021. This change in time frame represents a permanent move to the first weekend in November and will be the annual dates for the OSUSBC Queens/Senior Queens moving forward. The site of next November’s event has yet to be determined.
As well as crowning a state champion each year, this tournament also serves as a qualifier for the national USBC Queens and USBC Senior Queens events. As those two national events were cancelled in 2020, the OSUSBC will be sending the 2020 OSUSBC Queens and Senior Queens winners to the next available national events. The 2021 USBC Senior Queens has already been cancelled but there has been no announcement regarding the 2021 USBC Queens scheduled to take place in Reno in May.
One benefit of this move allows the winners of our event more time to make preparations for the national events. This move also allows the consideration of a wider range of venues to be considered as weather will not be as much of a factor in an early November time frame as it is for the current January time frame. As such, the OSUSBC Queens/Senior Queens will now follow a regular rotation schedule throughout the state on a similar basis as the OSUSBC Womens Championship. Therefore, the November 2021 event will mirror the 2021 OSUSBC Womens Championship and will be held in the southern part of the state. Stay tuned for more details
The 2020 Championships was held on January 25th and 26th at Starlight Lanes in Dallas, OR.
Congratulations to the 2020 Queens Champion Michelle Smith and the Senior Queens Champion Deb Lee!
